This week's #Go52 theme is Significant, not just because it's the actual weekly theme, but because we all face turning points that we don't often see for what they are until we're looking at them in the rearview mirror of our minds. Let's jump in...
They say that hindsight is 20-20, that we can see with perfect clarity what we could have or should have done or said differently. But what good does that offer us if we choose to dwell on the shoulda, coulda, woulda's? Residing comfortably within that place is our old "pal" regret, who is sometimes visited by pain. If we linger there for too long, we'll find ourselves rooming with not so pleasant company. But how do we move out of that space? Ownership - it's a significant (but often challenging) step in moving forward.
Does that mean owning what others have done to us? No, that's not your burden to bear. Rather, it is owning your response or reaction to their actions or lack thereof. It is owning the decisions we made that may not have landed us in the place we had hoped for. It is an option of granting yourself grace to be the flawed human that we all are, and a moment to forgive yourself, learn from it and apply those new lessons moving forward.
In understanding that each moment of reflection is a destination on our journey of life, and that each stop was set in motion by our choices and actions, it grants us the freedom to choose which journey or path is next. It releases us from fear of the unknown, and affords us an opportunity to continue to grow. Now that, is mighty significant.
